CBP Officers Intercept Almost $800K Worth of Cocaine in Hidalgo

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge seized nearly $800,000 worth of cocaine on September 27. The drugs were hidden in a black Chevrolet pickup truck coming from Reynosa, Mexico. After a secondary inspection using nonintrusive technology and canine units, officers discovered 22 packages of cocaine weighing a total of 59.78 lbs. (27.12 kg). Port Director Carlos Rodriguez emphasized the commitment of CBP officers to prevent smuggling. The narcotics and the vehicle were confiscated, and Homeland Security Investigations has launched a criminal investigation.
