The Rancho Viejo Police Department is investigating a death reported at 7:30 a.m. involving a man found lying at the entrance of a residence located in the 700 block of Zapata Avenue. According to authorities, the adult man was found unconscious and, after being evaluated by emergency medical personnel, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Rancho Viejo Police stated that the investigation is ongoing and that Texas Rangers are assisting in the efforts to determine the circumstances and cause of death. They also indicated that they will provide updates on the case as the investigation progresses.

The incident occurred at Marina Vallarta beach, near the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa, around 6:30 p.m., according to the Jalisco State Police. The man was only identified as a 28-year-old Mexican who was in Puerto Vallarta for work. Jamie Yetter, her fiancé Chris Bury, and their teenage daughter were staying at the hotel. The three were in the hotel pool when they heard screams coming from the beach. 'We thought we saw a man caught in a rip current, so Chris ran toward the water and I followed right behind him,' Yetter told NBC Los Angeles. Bury said he jumped into a kayak, without a paddle, in a quick attempt to reach the man and help him. 'There were no paddles. There was really nothing on the beach to help. We were improvising, trying to do what we could,' Bury said. 'I was in the kayak just when he got pulled under.' The victim was located in the water more than 12 hours later and was recovered early Saturday morning, confirmed the Jalisco State Police to NBCLA. By Saturday morning, less than a day after the attack, people were swimming in the same area of the sea with their families. Yetter shared that there are signs on the path to the beach from the hotel warning about jellyfish, stingrays, and crocodiles in the water, but noted that her family thought the image of a crocodile was that of an iguana. NBCLA reached out to the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa, which did not comment on the attack but is awaiting a response from its corporate office regarding the incident. The attack on Friday occurred near the same beach where two men from Colorado were attacked by a crocodile in July 2022.

The robbery took place on April 30 at an apartment on North McColl Road, where Jasso and another suspect, Andoni Garcia, allegedly stole Nike Air Force 1 shoes and a Coach watch from a female victim at gunpoint. Garcia had previously surrendered to authorities on May 15 and was charged with aggravated robbery, later released on a $25,000 bond on June 11.

Officer Fernando Cervantes of the Edinburg Police Department was awarded the Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Bravery by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement on June 26, 2026. This recognition was for his courageous actions during a September 1, 2025 incident at a Stripes gas station, where he intervened between an armed suspect and customers. Cervantes was the first officer on the scene, attempting to de-escalate the situation before ultimately stepping in to protect those inside the store. Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the confrontation.

Mexican authorities accuse 'Güero Pink' of being the regional leader of a criminal cell operating in the southern part of the state and of being linked to investigations into kidnappings and homicides in the area. In Escuinapa, Sinaloa, elements of @Defensamx1, @GN_MEXICO_, and @sspsinaloa1 arrested Misael 'N', alias 'Güero Pink', identified as the regional leader of a criminal cell with a presence in southern Sinaloa and connected to investigations into kidnappings and homicides. He was a 'priority target' for military forces due to his role as the plaza chief of Los Chapitos in southern Sinaloa, according to Mexican media. Additionally, in the same municipality, agents arrested Hilario 'N', former director of Public Safety and Municipal Transit of Escuinapa, in an operation where they seized long guns, magazines, cartridges, tactical gear, and drugs. It is currently unknown if the former official is related to the arrested regional leader of Los Chapitos.
