Robot Dogs with Faces of Personalities Entertain Visitors in Berlin

· Telemundo McAllen (KTLM)

BERLIN – In his first installation displayed in Berlin, American artist Mike Winkelmann, better known as Beeple, has created a pack of seven quadrupedal robots with hyper-realistic human heads of figures from the tech world, such as entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, as well as legendary creators Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso. From Tuesday to Sunday, the lobby of the New National Gallery in Berlin showcases Beeple's installation titled 'Regular Animals,' around which visitors to the gallery watch with curiosity or smile as they await the robots' 'poop mode,' in which the machines with human faces print images from their rear end for the audience. The robots, from the American company Robostore - a distributor for the Chinese firm Unitree Robotics - are equipped with sensors that detect what is in front of them, and thanks to an artificial intelligence program, they process the recorded information to then 'defecate' an image in the style characteristic of the depicted character. In the case of the Picasso robot, for example, the output is an image in a cubist style.
