I don't care if I go to jail”: 6-year-old challenges police after shooting a gun
· Telemundo McAllen (KTLM)
A 6-year-old boy who shot his elementary school teacher in Virginia in 2023 was seen insulting police officers in newly released body camera footage. 'Where's the gun?' asks an officer. 'It's over there,' the boy replies while cursing at the officer. 'If you want to mess with me, come at me, bitch,' the boy says. The video shows the moments following the first grader's shooting of Abigail Zwerner at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News on January 6, 2023. The bullet passed through her hand before striking her in the chest, where it remains lodged. In a civil trial against the former assistant principal of the school, a doctor testified that removing the bullet would be much more dangerous than leaving it in place. Zwerner testified in the trial that she thought she was dying after being shot.
