Meta says one of its AI models accidentally hacked another company

· Telemundo McAllen (KTLM)

A model of artificial intelligence (AI) from Meta accidentally hacked the systems of another company during cybersecurity testing, a company spokesperson confirmed to EFE on Thursday. "A configuration error by Irregular, an independent testing company that works with Meta, unintentionally allowed one of our models to access the internet during the evaluation," the spokesperson stated. The model then "exploited a security vulnerability in a third-party service, similar to incidents previously reported with other companies," they explained. The Meta spokesperson also emphasized that the company is investigating the incident and will publish a "comprehensive" report once all data is available.
