MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) —Mercedes residents reelected Oscar D. Montoya Saturday night, according to unofficial election results from Hidalgo County. Montoya received 722 votes, or 77% of the vote, compared to challenger Velda J. Garcia, who received 214 votes, or 22.86% of the vote. Montoya was first elected in 2020, and again in 2023.
