Hidalgo County partners with Pharr to bring back free healthy living course

Hidalgo County Health and Human Services is reintroducing a free healthy living course in Pharr, with registration now open. In collaboration with the city, the Eating Smart Being Active program will focus on nutrition, exercise, and healthy habits. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Pharr Discovery and Research Center, starting September 1, 2026. The program is funded by the state health department, following a successful initial session in June that attracted an average of 44 participants. So far, 30 individuals have registered, and walk-ins are encouraged.
