Texas Voters Receive Political Text Messages Asking 'Are You White?'
· Telemundo McAllen (KTLM)
TEXAS – Several viewers contacted NBC Dallas-Fort Worth after receiving text messages asking, 'Are you white?' The messages went on to claim that James Talarico had labeled white men as 'the greatest terrorist threat in the United States' and directed recipients to a politically charged website funded by the American Political Action Committee. Both the text messages and the attack website reference a comment made by Talarico following a mass shooting, in which he stated, 'Radicalized white men represent the greatest domestic terrorist threat in our country.' Talarico was referring to a report from the Department of Homeland Security, published during the first Trump administration, which described white supremacist extremists as the 'most persistent and lethal' threat among domestic violent extremists.
