Power companies in the Rio Grande Valley are actively working to restore electricity in Hidalgo and Cameron counties after severe weather impacted the area on Saturday. As of 4:47 p.m., AEP reported 2,872 customers without power in Hidalgo County and 1,704 in Cameron County. Additionally, Magic Valley Electric Cooperative indicated approximately 436 outages in Hidalgo and 2,432 in Cameron. Residents are advised to avoid downed power lines and report them to 911.
