The Rio Grande City Grulla Independent School District reported that a student from Rio Grande City High School alerted their teacher about a dream in which there was allegedly a gun in their backpack. According to the district's police chief, Hugo García, the Rio Grande City High School campus was placed on preventive lockdown while authorities secured the student and initiated the corresponding investigation. "At around 9:24 a.m., we were alerted that one of the students had approached the teacher and told her that he had a gun with him in his backpack. What the teacher did was follow the protocol, and from there, a preventive school lockdown was implemented. Those are the procedures we have, and the lockdown was put in place at 9:26 a.m. At that moment, we placed the student in custody," said Hugo García, Police Chief of RGCGISD. The police chief reported that after inspecting the student's backpack, no weapon was found. According to authorities, the procedure took approximately two minutes. Although several law enforcement agencies responded to the campus, the preventive lockdown was lifted once the inspection was completed.
