Adopt, Donate, and Help Clear the Shelters This August

Telemundo 40 is bringing back the national pet adoption initiative Clear The Shelters from NBCUniversal Local, now in its 12th edition, with the strong goal of finding permanent homes for thousands of pets waiting for a second chance. From August 1 to 31, the community is invited to visit participating shelters and open their homes to a new companion. This campaign promotes responsible adoption and aims to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare in our region. Additionally, until September 15, donations of goods and monetary contributions will be collected to support local shelters. Interested individuals can contribute pet food, beds, blankets, cleaning supplies, and other essential items by delivering them directly to participating centers. Each adoption and donation helps provide food, medical care, and essential support to sheltered pets, bringing them closer to the opportunity of finding a loving home. Meet the Participating Shelters of 2026: Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) in Edinburg works on community programs to help more pets find permanent families. Brownsville Animal Rescue and Care Center (BARCC) in Brownsville cares for lost, abandoned, or surrendered pets, working to give them a second chance. Mission Animal Shelter serves the Mission community by offering shelter, protection, and care for homeless animals. Harlingen Animal Shelter works daily to ensure the well-being of pets while finding them permanent homes. RGV Humane Society aims to improve the quality of life for pets and promote animal welfare throughout the region. Luv Us Mutts is dedicated to saving animals that have been abandoned, abused, or are suffering from untreated illnesses and injuries. Yaqui Animal Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, provide veterinary care, and find permanent homes for abandoned pets.
