Beach Access Closed in Cameron County Due to Weather Conditions

· Telemundo McAllen (KTLM)

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. has ordered a temporary closure of several local beach access points starting Saturday, October 10, 2026, due to dangerous conditions from a recent storm front. The closures, effective at 8:00 a.m., include County Beach Access No. 4, No. 5/E.K. Atwood Park Pavilion, and No. 6. Both vehicular and pedestrian traffic are prohibited until further notice due to flooding and high surf. Residents are advised to exercise caution at coastal areas and follow instructions from beach patrols. Meanwhile, access points in South Padre Island, like Isla Blanca Park and Andy Bowie Park, remain open. For updates, visit www.cameroncountytx.gov or call the Cameron County Parks and Recreation Department at (956) 761-3701.
