MIDLAND, Texas – At least one person has died and another 11 have been injured in an active shooting incident reported Friday morning in Midland, confirmed Midland Mayor Lori Blong. Authorities stated that the suspected shooter remains barricaded as a significant police operation continues to manage the situation. The incident occurred in the area of 4600 West Wall Street, where, according to Midland Police Chief Greg Snow, officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire and hearing shots coming from a building. Officers quickly worked to secure and clear the area, with support from armored units and multiple law enforcement agencies. As part of the response, a Family Reunification Center has been set up at Midland Memorial Hospital, where relatives can obtain information about their loved ones. Additionally, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced a complete closure of BI-20 from Thomason to Loop 250, including the access roads in both directions, due to an ongoing police investigation.
