Donna, Weslaco, and Progreso Open Shelters Due to Flooding

Donna announced the opening of a temporary shelter at the Donna Recreation Center, located at 307 Miller Avenue, starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The shelter will be available during the nights of Monday and Tuesday, and will remain operational as long as necessary to meet the community's needs. Pets will not be allowed. Meanwhile, the city of Weslaco reported that the First Baptist Church, located at 600 S. Kansas Avenue, has been designated as a temporary shelter for residents affected by the flooding. Residents planning to go to the Weslaco shelter must present valid identification among other requirements. Those needing transportation assistance to the shelter can contact the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) information line at (956) 973-4001. Additionally, Progreso ISD announced that it will provide shelter services all day on Monday, June 15, and Tuesday, June 16, for residents needing temporary accommodation due to weather conditions.
