Due to an extreme heat warning in the Rio Grande Valley, several cooling centers are now available for residents. In Alton, the fire station at 201 West Dawes Avenue is open as a cooling shelter. McAllen has designated three centers: the Lark Community Center, Las Palmas Community Center, and Palm View Community Center. In Mission, residents can find relief at the Parks & Recreation Building located at 721 N. Bryan Road.
