Hidalgo County courthouse set to reopen on Friday

· KRGV (NBC 5)

The Hidalgo County Courthouse will reopen to the public on Friday, September 4, after engineers confirmed its safety following a vehicle crash that occurred late Sunday night. The driver, 49-year-old Jesus Alaniz Jr., is in critical condition and faces a DWI charge. Although the closure slightly impacted the caseload, Hidalgo County District Attorney Toribio 'Terry' Palacios stated they can catch up soon. The main entrance remains closed for repairs, but temporary entrances are available via N. Closner Boulevard and S. 12th Avenue. Regular hours will resume from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and marriage license services continue at a temporary location.
