Man dies after shooting in Pharr; 18-year-old arrested

PHARR, Texas — A 26-year-old man died after being shot during a family dispute early Thursday morning in Pharr, according to Michael Martinez, spokesperson for the Pharr Police Department. Martinez stated that officers responded around 10:15 a.m. on October 1 to a report of a family dispute in the 1200 block of E. Serenidad Drive. Upon arrival, they found a 26-year-old man unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Pharr paramedics transported the man to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. After a brief search of the area, officers located an 18-year-old near E. Trenton Road and Interstate 69C. The suspect was unarmed and was taken into custody without incident, according to police. The young man remains in custody awaiting his arraignment, when authorities will formally announce the charges he will face. The investigation is ongoing.
