The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office will equip its patrol units with 116 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to enhance emergency medical response. These portable devices are designed to assist individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest by analyzing heart rhythms and delivering electric shocks when necessary. Sheriff J.E. 'Eddie' Guerra emphasized that deputies are often first responders at emergency scenes, and having AEDs will provide them with an additional life-saving tool.
